Olympic Spirit Week

To celebrate the spirit of the Olympics in February we will have fun spirit day on February 9, 10 and 11.
Students will discover facts about the first Olympics, Olympic athletes, why and where they began and keep a medal count each day for USA!

Spirit Week OLYMPICS. Go USA!

BOOK FAIR

BOOK FAIR
The Library will also be holding a book fair the week of February 9-12 with exciting new books for students to purchase for their home libraries and classroom libraries. Students will be allowed to shop during their scheduled time below. Families are invited to shop during our Parent Teacher Conference times on Tuesday and Wednesday from 4:00-8:00 PM and Thursday from 8:00-4:00 PM.

Volunteers are needed, so please sign up below!

Oliver Brown is teaming up with Flint Hills Bread Basket to collect food and funds to help families in our community experiencing food insecurity. FHBB is seeing more than 800 families per week and your help is needed!! Have your student bring in non-perishable items to the commons area and place in their grade level box. The grade level that brings in the most items wins a POPCORN PARTY!
 
This is a great way to teach kids about kindness, community, and helping others and together making a difference!

Items that are most needed at this time include:
Flour, sugar, pancake mix, pancake syrup, canned meat, canned fruit, sliced bread, dry or canned beans, shampoo/conditioner, body wash. razors

PTO Movie Night

Our first movie night is quickly approaching on February 5th, and we need a headcount to help us plan. Entry is free, and pizza, snacks, and drinks will be available for purchase. The doors will open at 6:00 PM, and the movie will begin around 6:30 PM.

You are welcome to bring blankets and lawn chairs to get comfortable.

This Month in Specials

LIBRARY
This month in library, students will continue working on their STEAM showcase project plans and begin creating. Our digital citizenship lessons will focus on building positive digital interactions with others.

ART
Congratulations to the following finalist in the Early Expressions Art Competition! We are so proud of you and your accomplishments: Paisley Dover-K, June Wuest -2nd, Alexis Copp- 2nd, Mackenzie Council- 4th, Aaron Davis-5th. Thank you to all of our students who entered artwork. Oliver Brown is filled with so many creative kids. The Early Expressions Art Exhibit will on display at The Beach Museum February 11-14th. There will be a reception in honor of all the artists on February 14.

P.E.
In February, students will be focusing on throwing games, basketball, and pickle ball/badminton during PE. These activities will help develop hand-eye coordination, teamwork, and overall fitness while keeping classes fun and engaging.

Kindergarten will finish their module on Structure and Function: Exploring Design
First will finish their module on Animal Adaptation
Second will finish their module on Properties of Matter
Third will finish their module on Stability and Motion: Science of Flight
Fourth will finish their module on Input/Output: Human Brain
