Oliver Brown Library Media Center

Hello Bison Families!

Megan MorganMy name is Megan Morgan, and I am the Library Media Specialist at Oliver Brown Elementary School. After teaching 2nd grade for 7 years at Ogden Elementary School, I decided to follow my love of literacy and project-based learning by moving to the school’s Library Media Center in 2015. I love working with so many different age groups and ability levels and instilling in students a passion for reading and learning. I am looking forward to growing the library together with families as Oliver Brown opens its doors and welcomes students.

It is my goal to ensure that students are lifelong readers and effective users of ideas and information. My goal is to make our library a welcoming place for students and to connect each child with the right books for them. Some of the many resources that can be found in our library are: a variety of fiction (ranging from everybody books to the classics), nonfiction/informational books, biographies, short stories, a variety of specialized research sources, Internet access, Reading Counts testing, and a welcoming space where learning, studying, and reading go hand in hand.

Our library media program provides students with instructional based literacy skills and hands-on research skills to ensure that our students become effective and ethical users of ideas and information.  Our program plays an important part in the school’s curriculum, fostering a love of books, creating life-long learners and developing critical thinkers.  The school library media specialist supports the mission, goals, philosophy, and educational objectives of the Manhattan-Ogden Schools in which the library media program is a vital part.

Just a few things you will want to know:

  • Students are allowed 2 books at a time. On library days they will be allowed to check out the same number of books that they returned, but are welcome to bring books back and check out more at any time throughout the week.
  • If a book becomes lost or damaged please let us know as soon as possible! We are able to fix many problems, and are willing to work with you. We understand that situations arise and most of them we have been through ourselves. Please never hesitate to bring any library problems to us.
  • Your students are the reason we are here! It is our goal to make the library a place where they feel safe and cared about!

If you have a question about your child’s reading, an overdue book, Reading Counts, technology, or anything else I can help you with, please do not hesitate to contact me.  Email is probably the best way to get ahold of me, but you are more than welcome to call or stop by the library with any questions.  I look forward to meeting you and your child(ren).

Thank you!

Mrs. Megan Morgan, Library Media Specialist
